{"id":1515,"date":"2019-05-19T16:12:13","date_gmt":"2019-05-19T16:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edituraunmb.ro\/?page_id=1515"},"modified":"2020-10-20T10:52:35","modified_gmt":"2020-10-20T10:52:35","slug":"editing-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.edituraunmb.ro\/?page_id=1515&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Editing Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>For books:<\/h1>\n<p>Authors who wish to publish at the National University of Music Bucharest Publishing House are required to comply with the following editing rules:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chapters are to be written in Word format and saved as <em>.doc<\/em> or <em>.docx;<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Authors will submit the text both in <em>.doc<\/em> or <em>.docx<\/em> and <em>Pdf <\/em>format;<\/li>\n<li>Page layout: A4, with 3 cm up and down margins, 2.5 cm right and left margins;<\/li>\n<li>The font used will be Times New Roman. If the text contains special characters that are not supported by Times New Roman, the author will provide the special font that must be compatible with the operating systems used by the publishing house;<\/li>\n<li>The font size will be 12 for the main text and 10 for the footnotes, block quotation and glossary;<\/li>\n<li>Line spacing: 1.5 cm;<\/li>\n<li>Paragraphs are to be written without extra spaces, distributed evenly between margins (using the <em>Justify<\/em> function) and must have a first-line indent of 1 cm;<\/li>\n<li>Romanian and other modern languages diacritics as well as other special characters or symbols must be used throughout the entire text (e.g. \u015etefan Niculescu, Bart\u00f3k, Martin\u016f);<\/li>\n<li>The punctuation rules generally recognized at the moment must be used: no free spaces between \u201c? ! ; :\u201d and the previous word; quotation marks are \u201c \u201d, guillemets (angle quotes) are \u00ab \u00bb; the hyphen \u201c-\u201c and the dash \u201c\u2014\u201d must be used distinctively and correct;<\/li>\n<li>To emphasize certain words or ideas there are not to be used CAPITALS, <strong>bold<\/strong>, <u>underline<\/u> or <strong><em>italic bold<\/em><\/strong>. Only <em>italic <\/em>is accepted;<\/li>\n<li>Titles rules: chapters\u2019 titles \u2013 <strong>bold<\/strong> and centered, subchapters\u2019 titles \u2013 Small caps, aligned left, sub-subchapter (a section which is part of a subchapter) \u2013 <em>italic<\/em>, aligned left;<\/li>\n<li>The music examples are to be edited with <em>Finale, Sibelius, Muse Score, <\/em> and saved in <em>jpg<\/em>. or <em>tif.<\/em> or <em>pdf.<\/em> at high resolution. The music examples, graphics and images are to be provided in separate folders.<\/li>\n<li>Each chart, graphic, music example must have a legend in <em>italic<\/em>, spaced at one row from the image and written with a 10 font size;<\/li>\n<li>The footnote number is to be placed before the punctuation mark (Ex: \u2026 composed by Bach<sup>21<\/sup>.)<\/li>\n<li>The following system must be used for quotation and footnotes:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For books: Name Surname, <em>Title<\/em>, Publisher, City, year, page number\/s.<\/p>\n<p>Ex: Steven Feld, <em>Sound and Sentiment: Birds, Weeping, Poetics, and Song in Kaluli Expression<\/em>, second edition, University of Pennsylvania Press, Philadelphia, 1990, p. 17.<\/p>\n<p>For translations:<\/p>\n<p>Ex: Jean de L\u00e9ry, <em>History of a Voyage to the Land of Brazil, Otherwise Called America<\/em>, trans. by Janet Whatley, University of California Press, Berkeley, 1999, pp. 18-25.<\/p>\n<p>For a chapter from a collective work: Name Surname, \u201cTitle\u201d, in <em>Book title<\/em>, ed. by [editor\u2019s name], Publishing house, City, year, page number\/s;<\/p>\n<p>Ex: Margaret J. Kartomi, \u201cIndonesian-Chinese Oppression and the Musical Outcomes in the Netherlands East Indies\u201d, in <em>Music and the Racial Imagination<\/em>, ed. by Ronald Radano and Philip V. Kartomi, \u201eMusic and Trance in Central Java\u201d, <em>Ethnomusicology<\/em> 2, 17 (1973), p. 191<\/p>\n<p>For internet sources: Name Surname, \u201cTitle\u201d, website address, accessed on [date]<\/p>\n<p>Ex: Raluca, \u201eDespre Theodor Mele\u0219canu, ministrul rom\u00e2n de Externe\u201d, https:\/\/lacoltulstrazii.ro\/2017\/02\/07\/despre-teodor-melescanu-ministrul-roman-de-externe\/, accessed on Feb. 24<sup>th<\/sup> 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Repeated references:<\/p>\n<p>If you quote the same author and\/or work several times, use a short but relevant form of the title, for example:<\/p>\n<p>Ex: Feld, <em>Sound and Sentiment<\/em>, p. 17 \u2013 for books;<\/p>\n<p>Kartomi, \u201cMusic and Trance\u201d, pp. 190-192.<\/p>\n<p>If an author is quoted for only one paper, use only the surname of the author and the page you are referring to, for example:<\/p>\n<p>Ex: Kartomi, pp. 190-192.<\/p>\n<p>Do not use idem, ibid. etc.<\/p>\n<p>The final <strong>Bibliography<\/strong> must contain all the titles (with complete data) referred to in the footnotes. The Musical Construction of Place<\/em>, Berg, Oxford, 1997.<\/p>\n<h1>For scores:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>You will not write the title, the name of the composer or any other information at the beginning of the work (on the first page), these will be added during the desktop publishing step;<\/li>\n<li>You will not write the page numbers, these will be added during the desktop publishing step;<\/li>\n<li>For the text type information inside the score, use the Cambria font, size 12.<\/li>\n<li>If the score does not have a special form that requests otherwise, please keep the measure numbers at the beginning of each system;<\/li>\n<li>Set all margins of the page at size 1.5 cm (0.59 in).
